Rhea Chakraborty requests Amit Shah to begin CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death

Mumbai/IBNS: Indian actress Rhea Chakraborty on Thursday requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of her actor boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, who had committed suicide on Jun 14.

Rhea, who called herself the girlfriend of the deceased actor, said she wanted to know what had pressurised Sushant to commit suicide.

Sharing a picture of Sushant on Instagram, Rhea wrote, "Respected @amitshahofficial sir , I’m sushants Singh Rajputs girlfriend Rhea chakraborty, it is now over a month since his sudden demise.

"I have complete faith in the government, however in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter . I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step."

At a time when netizens are demanding a CBI probe into Sushant's death, ex-MP from Bihar's Madhepura, Pappu Yadav, on Tuesday said that Shah has forwarded a letter to the concerned Ministry acknowledging his request for the same.

In a separate Instagram post, Rhea has shared a screenshot of a message by one with a username mannu_raaut, who had threatened the 'Jalebi' actress to send men to rape and murder her.

When India Blooms tried to access the accused's account, the page was not found.

Requesting the cyber crime department to take action against the Instagram user, Rhea wrote, "I was called a gold digger ..I kept quiet. I was called a murderer ....I kept quiet
I was slut shamed ....I kept quiet

"But how does my silence give you the right to tell me that you will get me RAPED and MURDERED if I don’t commit suicide @mannu_raaut? Do you realize the seriousness of what you have said? These are crimes, and by law no one, I repeat NO ONE should be subjected to this kind of toxicity and harassment."

The death of Sushant had triggered a debate on social media with netizens calling out Bollywood biggies including Karan Johar, Salman Khan for allegedly encouraging nepotism and favouritism in the Hindi film industry, leading the onscreen MS Dhoni to commit suicide.

Sushant, who was undergoing mental depression in the last six months of his life, had reportedly lost a number of Bollywood projects in a few months' time.

The Mumbai Police have already initiated a probe into Sushant's death.
