‘Always fun when you’re around’: Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal steal the show at Manish Malhotra’s Mijwan showcase

The duo served as showstoppers at the fashion event, offering a glimpse of their much-loved pairing ahead of their upcoming film Love & War.

Alia Bhatt stuns in ivory chikankari saree

Alia shared pictures from the event on social media and congratulated Manish Malhotra and Shabana Azmi on completing 15 years of Mijwan.

"15 years of Mijwan… what an incredibly powerful and meaningful journey. Congratulations @azmishabana18 @manishmalhotra05 for giving these amazing artisans the platform to showcase their talent and art," she wrote.

"Thank you for making me a part of this. And @vickykaushal09… always fun when you’re around," Alia added.

For the showcase, Alia wore a custom ivory chikankari saree featuring intricate embroidery, sequins, silver embellishments and scalloped borders.

She paired the saree with a contemporary bandeau-style blouse and a sheer matching veil. She completed the look with a diamond-and-pearl necklace, statement earrings, a maang tikka and diamond-studded haath phools.

Vicky Kaushal opts for midnight-blue bandhgala

Vicky complemented Alia in a midnight-blue bandhgala jacket featuring chikankari and sequin detailing.

He paired it with a white kurta and matching flared trousers. A diamond-studded chain, statement rings and white juttis completed his look.

Sharing pictures from the event, Vicky wrote, "And sharing this walk with @aliaabhatt made it even more special. We have walked the runway as Showstoppers, but the real stars are the girls whose dreams are being given wings."

Manish Malhotra and Mijwan’s 15-year journey

Manish Malhotra began his long-term partnership with the Mijwan Welfare Society in 2010, working to revive traditional chikankari while creating livelihood opportunities for women artisans.

The organisation was founded by poet Kaifi Azmi in Mijwan, Uttar Pradesh, and is now headed by his daughter, Shabana Azmi.

Their collaboration gave rise to the Mijwan Couture/Fashion Show, through which Malhotra brings the artisans' traditional chikankari craftsmanship to contemporary couture.

Beyond fashion, the initiative focuses on women's employment, financial independence and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship.
