'No one responsible': Handwritten note found after Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta's mysterious death
A handwritten note was recovered from the residence of Anik Dutta after the Bengali filmmaker died on Wednesday following a fall from the terrace of his south Kolkata home, news channel TV9 Bangla reported.
According to the channel's sources, the note stated, “No one is responsible for this.” With the recovery of the same, a suicide angle has been added to the filmmaker's mysterious death.
However, police have not officially confirmed the contents of the document and said the investigation is still underway.
Police send note for forensic analysis
Officials said the note has been sent for forensic examination to verify its authenticity and determine whether the handwriting matches the filmmaker's, according to TV9 Bangla reports.
The recovery of the note has prompted investigators to explore multiple angles surrounding the incident while awaiting forensic findings and other evidence.
Filmmaker died after fall from terrace
Police said Dutta sustained critical injuries after falling from the terrace of his residence in south Kolkata on Wednesday.
He was rushed to a private hospital near Dhakuria, where doctors declared him dead.
The filmmaker was 65 years old.
Preliminary autopsy report reveals multiple injuries
According to the preliminary autopsy conducted at SSKM Hospital, Dutta suffered extensive head, neck, chest and pelvic injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height, Bengali news platform Sangbad Pratidin reported.
Doctors found evidence of an “epidural hematoma” in the brain — a condition where blood accumulates between the skull and the outer protective covering of the brain.
Medical experts said there was also massive intracranial hemorrhaging, or internal bleeding within the skull.
The report noted that the left side of his head sustained extremely severe impact injuries.
Doctors believe the left side of his skull struck the surface first during the fall, causing fractures that split part of the skull bone into two pieces.
Health issues under scanner
Dutta had reportedly been dealing with health complications and other ailments for some time.
However, no official statement has yet been issued by his family regarding his medical condition or the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police said all aspects of the case are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
