Big returns, new stories and AI: Zee 5 unveils its ambitious Bangla entertainment slate
Kolkata/IBNS: Zee 5 has unveiled its latest Bangla content slate, titled ‘Notun Banglar, Notun Golpo’ (New Bengal. New Stories.), bringing together returning franchises, fresh originals and new storytelling formats across movies, series, live sports, AI-powered content, animation and kids’ entertainment.
The new slate reflects Zee 5’s focus on stories that celebrate Bengal’s cultural identity while exploring contemporary themes and evolving audience preferences.
Returning favourites
The platform has announced the return of several popular Bangla franchises, including Lalbazaar 2, featuring Anirban Bhattacharya and directed by Shayantan Ghoshal; Shwetkali 2, starring Oindrila Sen and Surangana Banerjee and directed by Sani Ghosh Roy; Shikarpur 2, directed by Nirjhar and starring Ankush; and Kaalipotka 2, directed by Abhirup Ghosh and featuring Swastika, Shruti, Sheya and Himika.
The slate also includes Mahaproloy, starring Saswata Chatterjee and directed by Raj Chakraborty. The project will serve as a sequel to Abar Proloy 2.
New Bangla originals
Zee 5 is also expanding its original programming with a diverse line-up spanning crime thrillers, romance, comedy and contemporary drama.
The upcoming titles include Aloor Dosh, featuring Saurav Das, Satyam Bhattacharya and Sandipta and directed by Joydip Banerjee; Taarkata, starring Vikram Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar and Meiyang Chang; and Prem Shots, featuring Bonny Sengupta, Angana Roy and Shreya Gupto and directed by Srimanta Senguptta.
The slate further includes Osthir, directed by Arjit Chakraborty; Priyo Bondhu, directed by Neel Dutta and Anjan Dutta; Bakhtiyar er Swarnamudra; Nari Choritro Bejay Jotil, starring Ankush and Oindrila; and Nibba Nibbi, featuring Rishav Basu and Sauraseni Maitra.
AI, animation and kids’ content
Moving beyond conventional formats, Zee 5 Bangla is also introducing a slate of AI-powered and animated stories in Bangla.
The titles include Garud – Ek Yodha Ki Gatha, Narmada Manasa Sundari, Vikram Betal, Shiv Sati – Ek Anant Prem Kahani, Param Sundari Chandrakanta, Tirupati Balaji, Ram Anjaney Yuddh and Aiyappan.
The platform is also expanding its kids’ offering with titles such as Shivlok Ke Kundakka Mandakka.
Football fans get global action
Zee 5 Bangla is further strengthening its live sports offering with football competitions including FIFA, Bundesliga and Coppa Italia, bringing major international sporting events to audiences in Bengal.

Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, Bangla Zee 5, said the new slate reflects the platform’s ambition to create a home for stories that are “emotionally rich, culturally rooted and unafraid to challenge convention.”
She highlighted the return of franchises such as Lalbazaar, Shwetkali and Kaalipotka, while pointing to originals including Aloor Dosh, Taarkata, Priyo Bondhu and Nibba Nibbi as part of the next generation of Bangla storytelling.
With the new slate, Zee 5 aims to combine familiar franchises with fresh originals and emerging formats, while strengthening its presence as a destination for Bangla entertainment.
