Mahima Chaudhry to play author-activist and former Indian PM Indira Gandhi’s confidante Pupul Jayakar in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency

Kangana also revealed the firstlook of Mahima from the movie as Pupul.

After being treated and being cancer-free, Mahima will make her Bollywood return with 'Emergency'.

The movie is based on the political upheaval caused by the Emergency declared in India, during the tenure of Indira Gandhi, between 1975 to 1977.

Presenting the character of Mahima on Instagram, Kangana wrote on Instagram: "Presenting @mahimachaudhry1 as the One who witnessed it all, and wrote for the world to see the Iron Lady up, close and personal. #PupulJayakar Friend, Author & Confidante."

In the movie, Kangana will portray the character of Indira Gandhi.

She has already shown the first look of herself as the former PM on the social media platform.

In the movie, Anupam Kher will be seen playing the character of  revolutionary leader J P Narayan.

Shreyas Talpade will portray the role of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
