Kangana Ranaut says she will sue Filmfare magazine for nominating her for award

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut said she would sue India's leading film magazine Filmfare for being invited to their awards night for receiving an award for the film Thalaivii, a biopic on the life of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Kangana, known for her tirade against the Bollywood film industry and its power centres over nepotism and award rigging, on an Instagram story posted a message in which said she would sue the film magazine for nominating her for an award though she had long banned the publication for its "unethical and corrupt" practices.

“I've banned unethical, corrupt and totally unfair practices like @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me award for Thalaivii... I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me. It is beneath my dignity, work ethics and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in anyway, that is why I have decided to sue @filmfare ... thanks,” she posted.

Media reports said the firebrand actress has been nominated in Best Actress in a Leading Role category this year for Thalaivii alongside Kiara Advani, Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra, Taapsee Pannu and Vidya Balan.

Her co-star Raj Arjun has also been nominated in Best Supporting Actor category for the same film also starring Arvind Swami as M. G. Ramachandran. Raj Arjun essayed the role of R. M. Veerappan.[ Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, it is directed by A. L. Vijay and written by Madhan Karky (Tamil) and Rajat Arora (Hindi).
