Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor-politician Govinda, who was injured by a bullet due to misfire, has released an audio message from the hospital where he was rushed to after the accident, media reports said.

In an audio message, Govinda thanked his doctors and informed his fans that the bullet, which hit his leg, has been extracted.

"I was hit by a bullet which has now been extracted. I thank the doctors and people who are praying for me," the actor said.

Govinda, who was about to catch a flight to Kolkata for an event, suffered the injury below his knee due to misfiring from a licensed gun.

The incident occurred at around 4:45 am when the actor was getting ready for the flight. He was alone when the firing took place.

"We had a 6 am flight to catch for a show in Kolkata and I had reached the airport. Govinda ji was about to leave his residence for the airport when this accident happened," the actor's manager told NDTV.

The Shiv Sena leader was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
