Ramayan famed actor Arvind Trivedi, who played the character of Ravan, dies

Mumbai: Actor Arvind Trivedi, who is best known for playing the mythological character of Ravana in iconic Indian TV serial Ramayan, passed away on Tuesday.

He was 82.

According to reports, the actor suffered a heart attack.

Speaking to ETimes, the actor's nephew Kaustubh Trivedi, said, "He was not keeping well for quite some time, but today he suffered a heart attack and that led to multi organ failure.''

Indian PM Narendra Modi condoled his death and tweeted: "We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti."

The actor's Ramayana colleague Arun Govil, who played the character of Ram in the serial, also mourned his death.

Dipika Chikhlia, who had played the role of Sita in the movie, said: "my heart felt condolences to his family …a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan."
