Kolkata hits outdoor to celebrate new year

As the clock struck 10 am, people started visiting the Indian Museum, Zoological Garden, Victoria Memorial in large numbers to celebrate the New Year. As the sun came down and temperature dropped in the city, people after visiting the church made their way to Park Street in Koljkata to celebrate Christmas. Park Street is decked up with lights and it will remain till Dec 31 when people will once again join the spirit of festivity as they will be busy welcoming the New Year 2015. From lighting candles and singing Christmas carols and mass to taking selfies or group selfies, people are basking in the festive spirit. As they pray to Jesus to make their wishes come true, kids to elders all are in very joyful mood. People are also buying and wearing Santa Claus caps which are being sold outside St.Paul's Cathedral on Thursday, ( Dec 25, 2014). Nitin Gadkari participates in anti-corruption rally in Kolkata

Kolkata, Dec 23 (IBNS): Union Transport Minister and BJP senior leader Nitin Gadkari was in Kolkata on Tuesday when he met state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanno in Howrah to discus expansion of various national highway projects while also taking part in an anti-corruption march in the city that began from College Square and ended at Esplanade point. The BJP state unit is organizing anti-corruption week from Dec 23 to 30. BJP state president Rahul Sinha and BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh took part in the rally while grand-daughter of poet Kaji Nazrul Islam, Sonali Kaji, also joined the BJP during the day. Nitin Gadkari gave her the flag of BJP.

Bengal Cricketer Lakshmi Ratan Sukla and at least 3000 students of Kolkata exhibited their soldiery by participating in a silent protest rally over the Peshawar terror attack, initiated by Lions Club International MD 322 in Kolkata on Sunday (Dec 21, 2014). The walk took place from Deshopriyo Prak to Lion Safari Park. Taliban militants attacked a Peshawar school on Dec 16 and killed 141 people including 132 students.

Inspired by the Swach bharat Abhiyan, Berger Paints launched the "Easy Clean India Campaign" in Kolkata on Monday (Dec 15, 2014).The company started their journey by cleaning an NGO, Jaihind Abaitanik Vidyalaya and its surroundings at Prince Anwar Shah Road here. Furthermore, they painted a classroom and donated a few additional cans of paint to the NGO to get the rest of the school painted.
