| @indiablooms | Mar 12, 2022, at 02:58 pm

Kyiv: Ukraine's Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov, who was abducted by Russian-backed forces on Friday, could be facing terrorism charges.

According to CNN, the prosecutor's office for the separatist Russia-backed Luhansk region has said that they are weighing terrorism charges against Fedorov.

In a video he was seen being led away by armed men from a government building in the city.

This is the first known instance of a Ukrainian political official being detained and investigated by Russian or Russian-backed forces since the invasion began.

The Luhansk prosecutor's office has claimed that the Mayor was a member of the "Right Sector" and he will be charged for assisting and financing terrorist activities and being part of a criminal community.
