Top LeT commander Sheikh Yousuf Afridi gunned down in Pakistan—Mystery gunmen strike again
Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Sheikh Yousuf Afridi was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to media reports.
Officials said the attackers fired multiple rounds at Afridi, leaving him fatally wounded. He reportedly died on the spot.
Afridi was believed to be a close associate of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed and was considered an important figure in the group’s operations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.
Investigators are treating the incident as a targeted killing, NDTV reported.
Security sources told News9Live that Afridi had long been involved in militant activities and played a key role within the organisation’s local structure.
The killing adds to a series of targeted attacks on individuals linked to the group in Pakistan.
Recently, Amir Hamza, a founding member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was also shot at by unidentified assailants in Lahore but reportedly survived the attack.
Last year, Abu Qatal, another LeT operative and nephew of Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Authorities are continuing investigations into these incidents.
