Tanzania: 5.7M quake kill at least 13, over 200 injured

Dodoma, Tanzania, Sept 12 (IBNS): At least 13 people were reported dead after a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit Tanzania's northern part on Sunday, reports said.

The tremors also left over 200 injured.

Most casualties were reported in Bukoba, a city with approximately 70,000 people.

Tremors were felt as far as Kenya, reports said.

Deodatus Kinawila, the district commissioner of the city was quoted by BBC as saying, "This incident has caused a lot of damage."

Quake struck the city after a period of nine years.
