Saudi oil giant targeted? Drone debris sparks fire at Ras Tanura refinery

| @indiablooms | Mar 02, 2026, at 05:02 pm

The Ras Tanura oil refinery in Saudi Arabia sustained limited damage after debris from the interception of two drones fell in its vicinity, according to media reports.

The incident triggered a small fire, which was swiftly contained by emergency response teams, sources told Arab News.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

As a precautionary measure, some operational units at the refinery were temporarily shut down.

However, there has been no impact on the supply of petroleum products to local markets, the report said.

The development comes amid heightened regional tensions following Israeli and US strikes in Iran that reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory attacks across multiple cities in the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, further escalating the crisis.
