The ministry said that another Palestinian, 21 years old, was rushed to surgery after he was injured by a bullet in the abdomen.

According to local sources, Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint east of Bethlehem opened fire towards the Palestinians who were trying to access Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan for Muslims.

Israeli public radio said that Gheith was killed "while attempting to sneak" into East Jerusalem.
