Karachi/IBNS: Three people were killed and over 60 people injured in an aerial firing during the celebrations of Independence Day in Pakistan's Karachi, media reports said.

Among the three killed were an eight-year-old girl and a senior citizen.

The child died after she was hit by an aerial bullet in Azizabad.

A probe has been initiated and officials assured of strict action who were involved in the aerial firing.

Earlier in January, at least 42 people including five women were killed in a firing incident that occurred in Karachi.

Another 233 people have suffered injuries.

Pakistan, which is into the 78th year since its inception, celebrates Independence Day on August 14.
