Pakistan province Sindh to block salary of unvaccinated govt employees

Islamabad: A Pakistani province has announced that no government employee will receive their salary if they refuse to take the COVID-19 jab.

Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah announced the move after meeting with health officials to discuss the first cases of the delta variant detected in the province, which includes the megacity of Karachi, reports AFP.

"Any government employee who is not vaccinated should have their salary stopped from July," he tweeted, adding that orders had been given to the finance ministry.

Pakistan witnessed a massive COVID-19 pandemic for the past several months.

Pakistan reported its lowest coronavirus positivity rate in three months at 3.58% on Friday, according the the latest stats provided by the National Command and Operation Centre, Geo News reported.
