Pakistan National Assembly approves 21st Constitutional Amendment and Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015

Islamabad, Jan 6 (IBNS) In a significant development, Pakistan's National Assembly on Tuesday approved the 21st Constitutional Amendment and Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015, media reports said.

The Bill was passed unopposed as 247 members voted in favour of it.

"The National Assembly on Tuesday approved the 21st Constitutional Amendment and Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015, unopposed as 247 members voted in favour of the laws which will provide constitutional cover to special courts for the trial of terrorism suspects," Geo News reported.

According to reports, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F)  lawmakers did not vote.

The bill be next presented in the Senate.

After the Senate gives its approval to the Bill, it will be sent to country's President
Mamnoon Hussain for being signed into a law.
