A 10-year-old boy died and his brother was injured after a bomb exploded in the Jaffarabad district of Pakistan on Friday, media reports said.

Police told Dawn News that the explosive was planted by unknown miscreants at the zero point of the Dera Allahyar bypass.

The explosives were detonated when the children were crossing the area.

The deceased child was identified as Zakir Ali Domki.

The blast left his brother, identified as Siraj Ahmed Domki, injured.

Authorities rushed to the spot and transferred them to a district hospital.

“Both brothers were passing through the area when a blast took place, which smashed the windowpanes of many shops and buildings,” SHO Javed Ahmed of Dera Allahyar police told Dawn News.

He said it is still not clear who carried out the attack.
