Beijing/Sputnik: A powerful explosion has hit a repair plant in China's southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, leaving one person dead and three more injured, media reported on Friday.

The incident took place in the Baise prefecture-level city on late Thursday, the Sina news portal reported.

A video disseminated on the Internet shows that the explosion caused a big plume of smoke.

The shock wave damaged parked cars, broke windows and chopped down trees.

The incident was reportedly caused by the thermal expansion of the reagent used for road repair.
