Moscow, June 5 (Sputnik/UNI) New Zealand police said on Wednesday that they had detained the person they believe made bomb threats at Auckland's Whenuapai Air Force Base.

The New Zealand Herald newspaper reported earlier in the day that armed police and emergency services personnel were sent to the base in West Auckland after they "received threats" from an unknown person.

The roads leading to the site have been cordoned off, according to the newspaper.

"A male has been taken into custody without incident at Whenuapai Air Force Base, and is speaking with Police," the police said, as quoted by the TVNZ broadcaster.

According to law enforcement, roads will be cordoned off "until further notice."
