Mali hotel attack: 18 killed, no more hostages held
Bamako, Nov 20 (IBNS): At least eighteen people have lost their lives after gunmen stormed into a luxury hotel in Mali capital Bamako on Friday and took over 100 people as hostage, media reports said.
According to latest reports, no more hostages are being held by the gunmen following a rescue operation by special forces.
The forces are now, in fact, tracking the attackers down.
Among those who were staying in the hotel were 20 Indians.
"#MaliAttack : Acc'g to current info there are 20 Indians staying in the hotel. Our Amb (Embassy) is continuously in touch with them & monitor'g sitn (situation)," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted earlier in the evening.
However, all the 20 Indians are reported to be safe.
"Good news! All 20 Indians in the hotel in Bamako have been safely evacuated. Our Ambassador in Mali has confirmed. #MaliAttack," Swarup tweeted.
An African Jihadist group affiliated with al Qaeda has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
