Maggi gets clean chit in Bangladesh

| | Jun 02, 2015, at 10:14 pm
Dhaka, June 2 (IBNS): The Bangladeshi authorities have found no ingredients above harmful levels in popular noodles brand Maggi, media reports said.

“We have tested noodles of five companies including Maggi,” Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI)’s certification wing director, Kamal Prasad Das, was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com.

“We did not find any ingredients in them above harmful levels," Das said.

New Zealand Dairy’s ‘Doodles’, Kallol Thai Food’s ‘Mama’, Ifad Multi Product’s ‘Ifad Eggy’ and  ‘Mister’ marketed by Pran Group’s concern Natore Agro have also been tasted by the country.

In India, the Food Safety and Drug Administration in Uttar Pradesh claimed that Maggi noodles' samples contained Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG) and high amounts of lead, more than the permissible limits that could be detrimental to one's body.

Nestle India, manufacturers of the product, has been forced the withdraw Maggi from Uttar Pradesh market, though the company denied theuse of MSG in its product.
