Islamabad, Dec 10 (IBNS) Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a trilateral meeting in Islamabad in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The three sides agreed that China, Pakistan and Afghanistan are each other's important neighbours.

"For Pakistan and Afghanistan to enhance mutual trust and cooperation serves the shared interests of both countries and other countries in the region. China will continue to firmly support Pakistan and Afghanistan in improving relations and will play a positive role in this regard," said a statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The three sides agreed that peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan bears on Afghanistan's fundamental national interests as well as to regional peace and stability. The three sides call on the international community to truly honour assistance commitments to Afghanistan. China and Pakistan will continue to provide help in their own ways to this end.

The three sides shared the view that advancing the reconciliation process in Afghanistan is the important condition to realize long-term security of the country.

China and Pakistan will, on the basis of respecting Afghanistan's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and based on the "Afghan-led, Afghan-owned" principle, provide all support and help for resuming and advancing peace talks in Afghanistan.

The three sides agreed that terrorism poses grave threats to regional and international peace and security.

The three countries will take an active part in international counter-terrorism cooperation in accordance with international law in a joint effort to address security challenges.
