Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was injured in Israeli airstrike during 12-day clash: Reports
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suffered a light injury during an Israeli airstrike on a meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, media reports said.
The attack on the lower floors of a building in western Tehran was carried out on June 16, The Times of Israel reported, quoting Fars News Agency.
The attack reportedly occurred at a time when Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i, and other senior officials were reportedly meeting the President.
The strike was conducted reportedly four days after Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Six bombs or missiles hit the access and entry points of the building, apparently in an attempt to prevent those inside from leaving, and to prevent air from getting inside, the news agency reported.
Though power to the building was cut off, the officials managed to escape via an emergency hatch, the report further said.
Iran International reported an Israeli airstrike against an area near Shahrak-e Gharb in western Tehran on June 16.
Several top Iranian officials, including IRCG commander Hossein Salami, Iranian Armed Forces Chief Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC air force commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh, were killed by Israeli during the 12-day conflict.
