Iran Armed Forces vow to combat US forces in West Asia

Tehran, Apr 9 (Xinhua/UNI) Iran's Armed Forces would spare no effort to combat the US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces in West Asia, Iran Armed Forces Headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

Over the past years, the United States has destabilized the West Asia region with the aim of creating a safe haven for Israel, official IRNA news agency cited the statement as saying.

The announcement by Iran's Armed Forces follows the decision on Monday by US President Donald Trump who said that the United States designates Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a "foreign terrorist organization."

Accordingly, Iran's Supreme National Security Council on Monday announced the US Central Command forces in West Asia as "terrorist group."

"The US government's move to designate the IRGC as a terrorist group is a desperate attempt to take revenge and cover up its failures in the region," the Iranian Armed Forces' statement said.

"The US unwise action lacks an operational value and is doomed to fail," it said.

The IRGC's Chief Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari said Tuesday that his forces will grow stronger in its defensive and offensive power in the next year despite US "ridiculous" attempts, according to the state IRINN TV.
