EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo crashed: Francois Hollande

Paris, May 19 (IBNS): French President Francois Hollande on Thursday announced that the EgyptAir flight having 66 people onboard, which disappeared from the radar, crashed.

The flight was flying from  French capital Paris to Cairo.

The airbus disappeared from radar at 02:30 Cairo time (00:30 GMT), soon after leaving Greek airspace.  It was flying at a height of 37,000ft and disappeared after entering the Egyptian airspace with 10 miles.

"Greece's defence minister says Flight MS804 made "sharp turns" and plunged before dropping off the radar," BBC reported.

A major search has been launched in seas south of the Greek island of Karpathos.

The flight had 56 passengers in addition to 10 cabin crew members onboard.

The airlines said the flight was carrying 15 French, 30 Egyptian,1 British, 1 Belgium,2 Iraqis, 1 Kuwaiti, 1 Saudi, 1 Sudanese, 1 Chadian, 1 Portuguese, 1 Algerian, 1 Canadian national.
