Education institutes in Pakistan to remain closed till April 11 in COVID hotspots

Islamabad/UNI: Pakistan announced on Wednesday that all educational institutes located in areas which are reporting high incidence of COVID-19 cases, including the national capital Islamabad, will remain closed till April 11.

Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood made the announcement at a press conference, Dawn reported.

Earlier this month, the government had decided to give a two-week spring vacation to the educational institutions in 10 cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad from March 15 till March 28.

The high incidence of coronavirus cases have been reported in several districts of Punjab, KP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan has so far recorded 637,000 cases of COVID-19 and 13,965 deaths.
