Riyadh/IBNS: An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, while eight others were injured, including two Indians, media reports said on Thursday.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the casualties in a post on X, saying it was gathering further details and contacting the affected families.

The embassy said, "Saudi authorities have informed that one Indian national was among two people who unfortunately lost their lives in the attack on Dammam airport yesterday night and two Indian nationals were injured."

"We are ascertaining further details and contacting the affected families. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased and we wish speedy recovery of the injured," it added.

The second person killed was a Saudi national.

The attack caused material damage at the airport, but operations have since resumed, according to media reports.

Houthi attacks intensify in Saudi Arabia

The attack comes amid an escalation in strikes by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group against Saudi Arabia, with airports and energy infrastructure among the reported targets.

Saudi Arabia has faced a series of attacks in recent days, including strikes targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and facilities linked to Saudi Aramco.

The latest violence has raised concerns over the safety of civilian infrastructure and disrupted air travel in the kingdom.
