Seoul/UNI: With a total of 50 deaths, South Korea on Sunday confirmed 67 additional cases of the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 7,134.

According to Yonhap, the majority of the cases are from the southeastern city of Daegu and neighbouring North Gyeongsang Province, the two epicentres of the virus outbreak that together account for more than 90 percent of all infection cases.

The number of people who have been discharged from hospital in South Korea now stands at 130, Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Tests of over 19,370 people are still being processed.

South Korea raised its virus alert level to the highest on Feb 23, enabling all-out quarantine measures by the health authorities as well as district governments.

The country reported its first COVID-19 case on Jan 20.
