Rangoon/IBNS: A couple and their act of filming themselves having sex at a sacred Buddhist temple in Myanmar have triggered a row with several people slamming them for the act.

The video of their act was also posted on a pornographic website.

The pair stripped off in broad daylight at a pagoda in the ancient city of Bagan, the country's best-known tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reported Daily Mail.

The amateur porn stars, both aged 23, posted the 12-minute video on the X-rated website under their profile name 'YeeesYeeesYeees' where they describe themselves as a 23-year-old Italian couple with piercings and tattoos, the report published by the British newspaper further said.

Netizens slam the couple  on social media

One Zashnain Zainal tweeted: "A pornographic video clip shot at the World Heritage-listed ancient city of Bagan in central Myanmar has provoked widespread outrage on social media and prompted calls for the government to impose harsher punishments on badly behaved tourists."

Another netizen Kay Chit said: "Myanmar outrage over tourists’ porn video in Bagan."

Netizen Devendra Kumar posted: "'Porn' 'Italian' 'Tourist 'Buddhist' 'Temple' #Myanmar, more dislikes."

Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar.

From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar.

During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, 4,446 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of 3822 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day. Now Bagan is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.
