At least 10 people died after four tourist boats capsized in China's Guizhou Province on Sunday.

According to local media reports, the mishap left 70 people injured.

Four boats capsized in sudden strong winds in a river of Qianxi City, southwest China's Guizhou Province, on Sunday afternoon, plunging 84 individuals into the water, Xinhua reported.

500 emergency responders were deployed to coordinate rescue efforts.

The mishap occurred at a time when China was observing the nearly week-long  May Day holiday.

It is the peak season for travelling in the country.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping had earlier urged "all-out efforts" in the search and rescue, reported the BBC.
