Bangladesh: Chattogram gas line blast leaves nine hurt

Dhaka/UNI: At least nine people sustained burn injuries in a gas line explosion at a house at Uttar Kattoli in Chattogram city here.

The incident took place at Maryam Bhaban in Uttar Kattli area of Akbar Shah Police Station on Sunday night.

There are 6 members of the same family among the victims. The injured were identified as Guava Begum (65), Mizanur Rahman (42), Saiful Islam (25), Bibi Sultana (38), Riaz (22), Jahan (21), Sumaiya (18), Manha (2) and Maher). Doctors on duty at the burn unit said the condition of three of them was critical.

They were admitted to the burn unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital in serious condition, said the head of the burn unit of Chamek Hospital, Dr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed.

He said the throats of all the 9 people were damaged.
