Ali Haider Gilani recovery: Imran Khan congratulates ex-Pakistan PM

Islamabad, May 10 (IBNS): Politician Imran Khan on Tuesday congratulated former Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his family over the rescue of his son Ali Haider Gilani.

"Mubarak to the Gilani family for the safe recovery of their son Ali Haider Gilani. No parent should have to go through this ordeal," Khan tweeted.

Afghanistan on Tuesday confirmed son of former Pakistan  prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani-Ali Haider Gilani- has been rescued during a joint operation in the Giyan district of Paktika province by US and Afghan forces.

Official Twitter account of the Office of the President of Afghanistan confirmed the matter and tweeted: "Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (#ANSDF) in a joint anti-terror operation destroyed an Alqaeda cell in Paktika Province."

"Ali Haidar Gilani, son of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Yusuf Reza Gilani, was identified & rescued during the operation," it said.

He has been handed over to the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul.

"Good news for Mr. Gilani's parents, the Government of Afghanistan has safely handed him over to the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul," read another tweet.
