Kabul: Eight security forces members have been rescued from Taliban prison during an operation conducted in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan region on Sunday, media reports said.

The operation was launched in Amarkhil village of Baghlan-e-Jadid and the security force members who had been taken captive were released, Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.

In the meantime, a security source told Tolo News that two security forces members were killed, and another was wounded during the operation.

The Taliban did not comment on the issue so far.
