Seoul, Jan 6 (IBNS): South Korea on Wednesday claimed that an earthquake which hit North Korea close to the country's nuclear test site might have been caused due to a nuclear test carried out by the nation.

According to USGS website, an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale hit North Korea with the epicentre being 19kms east-north-east of North Korea's Sungjibaegam town.

"Cheong Wa Dae, South Korea's presidential office, plans to hold a session of the National Security Council over the issue," South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.
