CWG: Vikas Gowda clinches gold

Glasgow, July 31 (IBNS) Indian athlete Vikas Gowda clinched a gold medal in the discus throw of the Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.

He became the  second male athlete to win a gold at the Commonwealth Games.

He clinched the medal with a best throw of 63.64 metres.

Cypriot Apostolos Parellis won the silver with a best throw of 63.32 metres.

Jamaican Jason Morgan clinched the bronze with 62.34 metres.

Indian wrestler Geetika Jakhar settled for the silver in the women's freestyle 63 kg final to after being defeated by Canada's Danielle Lappage.

Indian wrestler Pawan Kumar bounced back to defeat Pakistan's Muhammad Inam to win the bronze medal in the  men's freestlye 86kg event on Thursday.
