'You misunderstood': Swara Bhasker replies to Prasoon Joshi's 'sadness' over 'Rasbhari' scene

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker told Indian lyricist Prasoon Joshi that he misunderstood the scene of a young girl dancing in front of few men in the recently released Amazon Prime web series 'Rasbhari'.

Joshi, who is the director of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), was evidently upset over a scene from the web series where a little girl was shown dancing in front of drunken men.

"Saddened by Webseries #Rasbhari’s irresponsible content portraying a little girl child dancing provocatively in front of men drinking. Creators & audience need 2 seriously rethink Freedom of expression or freedom of exploitation? Let’s spare children in the desperate need4 entertainment," he wrote on Twitter. (sic)

Replying to the popular lyricist, Bhasker tweeted, "With respect sir, perhaps you have misunderstood the scene. It’s absolutely opposite to how you have described it. The child is dancing by her own choice, the father gets awkward and embarrassed on seeing it. The girl is simply dancing. She doesn’t know that the society will sexualise her too. That’s all there is to this scene." (sic)

Swara, who played the lead role of a teacher in the web series, has faced both support and flak over the issue in the micro-blogging site.

'Rasbhari' was released on the OTT platform on Friday.
