'You can't discredit my hard work': Taapsee Pannu hits back at Kangana Ranaut's 'B-grade actress' attack

Mumbai/IBNS: The debate of nepotism which was triggered by the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput took an ugly turn when actress Kangana Ranaut rated her industry-mates including Taapsee Pannu, who have no lineage in the Hindi film industry.

Besides her fiery attacks on Bollywood biggies for encouraging nepotism allegedly leading Sushant to commit suicide, Kangana in an interview with PinkVilla had said, "It is so sad. I do not know what to say because I have been in their place. People who come from outside, I have said it in my earlier interviews as well, we (outsiders) do not have the comfort of our parents’ houses. I am not Anil Kapoor or Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter.

"Or when you talk about Swara Bhasker, Taapsee Pannu or Richa Chadha, I understand they have bills to pay for their house; everybody is not and doesn’t want to live the kind of life I aspire. So, I do understand where they’re coming from and there are a lot of pressures."

In a recent interview with CNN News 18, Taapsee reacted to Kangana's attacks saying, "I am okay with people calling me names, I can’t change their thinking. But you can’t discredit my hard work, just because I don’t follow the same rules. That doesn’t make me inferior in any way.

"I am not going to take personal digs at people. I am not going to justify who I am, my filmography is out there for people to see."

Alleging the nepotism debate is masked by personal agendas of some people, Taapsee said she won't jump into commenting on Sushant as she hardly knew the Bollywood actor.

"We (Taapsee and Sushant) have never even crossed paths at events. So I suddenly can’t get into the debate just to get my two bits of attention and try to have my personal vendetta. We all fight our own battles, Sushant was fighting his," she said and added, "Everyone is trying to get their own personal vendetta sorted in this. Industry is one part of nepotism. But so is the media and the audience."

Taapsee told the news channel that Kangana didn't support her when she was replaced in 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' which released last year.

She said, "I was replaced in Pati Patni Aur Woh, she didn’t come and support me, I didn’t ask for it also."

Earlier in a series of tweets, Taapsee had taken jibes at Kangana's flip-flop over the nepotism debates by posting old videos where the Bollywood 'Queen' was okay with star kids' privilege viewing it as a "quota" which she enjoys in some other fields.

Sushant, who was reportedly undergoing mental depression for the last six months of his life, was found hanging at his own flat in Mumbai's Bandra on Jun 14.
