Mumbai/IBNS: Hours after Akshay Kumar pledged to donate Rs. 25 crore towards PM-CARES fund, Twinkle Khanna shared how proud a wife she is with the Bollywood actor's kind gesture.

She also revealed how she was unsure if he wanted to donate such a large sum of money since they need to liquidate funds to which the actor replied that he won't hold back when he is in position to donate.

In a tweet, Twinkle posted: "The man makes me proud. When I asked him if he was sure as it was such a massive amount and we needed to liquidate funds, he just said, ‘ I had nothing when I started and now that I am in this position, how can I hold back from doing whatever I can for those who have nothing.’"

Akshay Kumar on Saturday donated Rs. 25 crore to a fund which has been created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for willful donations to fight against COVID-19.

Modi on Saturday announced "Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund" or "PM Cares Fund".

Kumar tweeted, "This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai."

Replying to Akshay, the Prime Minister said, "Great gesture @akshaykumar . Let’s keep donating for a healthier India."

Modi took to Twitter to appeal to people to contribute to the fund to fight against the virus which has kept the country as well as the globe on edge.
