Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's comeback film Pathaan has created history by recording the highest earning on the opening day with a collection of Rs. 55 crore in the box office on Wednesday.

Pathaan is now the biggest opening Hindi film in the country.

It has surpassed the Hindi version of Kannada film KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs. 53.96 cr), Hrithik Roshan's War (Rs. 51.60 cr) and Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan (Rs. 50.75 cr).

The film has earned Rs. 106 crore, the highest number by any Hindi film, worldwide on the opening day.

Pathaan, which co-stars actors Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead, was screened as early as 6 am on Wednesday reflecting the craze around 57-year-old Shah Rukh Khan, who had taken a break from films following the dull run of his last project Zero in the box office in 2018.

The Yash Raj Films' production, which is a part of the spy universe, is released in around 100 countries.
