Shabani Azmi goes through 'ordeal' for making mother's Aadhaar card

Mumbai, Apr 3 (IBNS): Indian actress Shabana Azmi had to go through an "ordeal" to make Aadhaar card for her mother Shaukat Kaifi.

In a tweet, the actress said she went to make the Aadhaar card but had to fight verbally with the officials to convince them that one mobile phone number would be enough to register her name.

Her tweet reads, "I had to make #Aadhaar card for my mother. Her biometrics wouldnt register due to age. Unless she gives a mobile no card would not b processed. It took 2 hrs of arguing and several phone calls to be informed that one number can suffice for 10 family members! Phew! Such an Ordeal."

Shabana's mother Shaukat Kaifi, the wife of Urdu poet and lyricist late Kaifi Azmi, is also an Indian theatre and film actress.

Shabana is the only daughter and the second child of Shaukat Kaifi and Kaifi Azmi.

Aadhaar is the 12-digit unique identification number which is mandatory for all Indian citizens.
