Saurabh Prajapati: I look at every project as it's my first one

Mumbai: One of the youngest choreographers and directors in the industry, Saurabh Prajapati says that he is always cautious while working due to his age. He adds that while he puts in all his efforts for every new project, he also ensures that everyone takes him seriously, despite his young age.

“I feel being one of the youngest choreographers and directors in the industry puts pressure on me as sometimes I have to deliver great work every time. Also, I have to constantly make sure that no one is taking me for granted because of my young age. Honestly speaking, to date I look at every project like it is my first project. I work with the same passion and excitement. Talking about being on set and working with the stars, I have never experienced that anyone has not taken me seriously when it comes to working. I am very serious and very mature. I feel when it comes to work and art, your maturity and experience matters, not your age. If you know your job and you have enough experience and confidence that's all that is required as age is just a number. Nowadays, a 20 years old boy and 50-year plus people are doing the same job,” he says.

The choreographer-director says that the youth today are more daring.

“The youth is changing from time to time. Also, the mindset is changing because these days, youngsters are so updated. This generation is very mature but are ready to experiment as well, which is taking them a long way. Coming out from your comfort zone is very important,” he says.

Ask him what advice would he like to give to young people who want to make it big in showbiz, and he says, “To all those young people all, I want to say believe in yourself, study your craft as much as you can, spend time in your art because that will give you confidence. And take risks, experiment as much as you can and create new stuff that will make you different from others. It will give you your own identity.”

Talking about his future plans, he adds, “I see myself directing films, web series in the next few years. Choreography is my first love but I love direction and I want to explore myself more and more in that area as well. I have already started working on my scripts.”
