Prakash Jha's Jai Gangaajal dialogues impress 'real life Abha Mathur'

Mumbai, Feb 4 (IBNS) Filmmaker Prakash Jha’s next Jai Gangaajal explores the relationship between police and the society and Priyanka Chopra is playing the lead role of a tough IPS officer Abha Mathur in the movie.

While promoting the film in Ranchi, Prakash Jha got an opportunity to meet a real life Abha Mathur - CID IG Sampat Meena and when she saw the film’s trailer, along with several other female cops, she was not only impressed with its relevant content but also with its hard-hitting dialogues.

She especially liked the dialogue ‘Jab khaki ka rang sahi ho na toh chahe usse mard pehne ya aurat, tum jaise namardon ko chutki mein uski aukaat dikha deti hai’.

Emphasizing on the same, she said, “A leader doesn’t have any gender, a leader is a leader and this is what we teach our officers. So I’m very impressed with this dialogue as I personally believe that when you wear a uniform, you shouldn’t think about what gender category you fall into.”

"It was wonderful and very gratifying to meet IG Sampat Meena and her officers in Ranchi. In many ways she symbolized Abha Mathur from Jai Gangajaal. And I was happy that she contradicted the common perception and broke the stereotype of a police officer. She is soft-spoken yet tough. Determined in doing her duties without any fears. Leading by example the men and women she commands. And that is what we as a nation need - officers with a sense of duty and pride in khaki,” said the National Award-winning filmmaker after meeting IG Sampat Meena and her team.

Jai Gangaajal, revolves around a female IPS officer, who is brought in a well-oiled system of the powerful, as she is thought to be weak, pliable and easy to manipulate however, things become difficult for them, when she comes into a confrontational mode.

Written and directed by Prakash Jha, produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment and co-produced by Milind Dabke, Jai Gangaajal revisits the dusty heartland of Central India and examines the society–police relationship. Starring Priyanka Chopra, the movie is all set to release on Mar 4.

Jai Gangaajal is not a prequel or a sequel to Ajay Devgn starrer Gangaajal but is a fresh story.
