Not a happy day for animals: Peta on Priyanka-Nick wedding

Jodhpur, Dec 3 (IBNS): Peta India on Monday slammed actor Priyanka Chopra and singer Nick Jonas for using elephants and horses for their wedding that took place here.

"Dear @priyankachopra and @nickjonas. Eles 4 weddings live n chains & horses r controlled w whips, spiked bits. Ppl r rejecting ele rides...& having horse-free weddings. Congrats, but we regret it was not a happy day for animals," Peta India wrote on Twitter, a day after the two got married following Hindu rituals.

Reports said Nick came to the marriage ceremony venue on a horse and later, the couple took a tour of the venue seated on an elephant.

Previously, Priyanka had also received criticism on social media for bursting firecrackers at her wedding. The actor had earlier campaigned against the use of firecrackers during Diwali.

The couple flew out of Rajasthan on Monday. The media caught up with the two at the airport.

With a pair of cat-eye sunglass perfectly suiting her new-bride look, Priyanka looked stunning as she sported a  cyan saree. Nick joined her in safari jacket-and-pant combo. 

Nick and Priyanka had a Christian wedding ceremony on Saturday while their Hindu marriage ceremony was held on Sunday.

The wedding was held in Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace.

This was the second high-profile Bollywood wedding of the year after Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot in November
