Jimmy Sheirgill at the India Day parade

Keep your culture alive: Jimmy Sheirgill

| @indiablooms | Aug 21, 2018, at 01:23 pm

Bollywood star Jimmy Sheirgill was the grand marshall of the India Day Parade 2018 in Toronto on Sunday, hosted by Panorama India and the Consulate General of India. Sayantan Banerjee and Suman Das  of the event's media partner IBNS Canada caught up with the actor ahead of his film Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi's release

What made you accept this year's invitation and come to Toronto for the India Day Parade? Is it just the event or your upcoming movie Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi?

JS: I have come here to be a part of this amazing event as well as the movie. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is the second part of Happy Bhag Jayegi that got so much love from the audience.

Tell us a bit more about the movie?

JS: Much of the cast members remain the same. There's Sonakshi Sinha and Jassi Gill, a Punjabi boy, who has done extremely well and is debuting with this film.

Do you think the success of the first part encouraged the makers to do a sequel?

JS: Of course, the love that the film received from the audience played an important part. When a film does well and is loved by everybody, then only a director or a producer thinks of making a sequel.

What was your experience like filming for the movie?

JS: Oh, great! Amazing experience! Loved working in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. I'm really looking forward to the release on the 24th of August.

Any message to the large Indo-Canadian community here on the occasion of India's 71st Independence Day?

JS: The most important thing is to keep your culture alive. I know you are staying far off but you can still keep your culture alive. The best way is to have your kids involved in such events.
