Golden Globes: Meryl Streep slams Trump

| | Jan 09, 2017, at 10:20 pm
Los Angeles, Jan 9 (IBNS): Hollywood actress Meryl Streep attacked US President -elect Donald Trump at the Golden Globes stage as she referred and slammed him over imitating a disabled reporter during his campaign.

"There was one performance this year that stunned me," the actress said while addressing the gathering after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award.

She said: "It kind of broke my heart when I saw it and I still can't get it out of my head because it wasn't in a movie. It was real life."

Attacking the leader, Streep said: "Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose."

Without naming the US leader directly, Streep also used the platform in attacking Trump's behavior and policies.

The crowd cheered aloud when the actress said: "Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners.”

"If you kick them all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not art,” the actress said amid cherring crowds.

Trump defeated his opponent Hillary Clinton last year in the US Presidential polls to be elected as the President of the nation.
