Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who has played acid-attack victim Laxmi Agarwal's character in Chhapaak, said her feeling for the upcoming film and its journey is inexplicable.

As the trailer of the film directed by Meghna Gulzar was released on Tuesday, Deepika said Chhapaak is one of those rare films which do not take much time for an actor to decide whether to work for it or not.

"Rarely do you come across a story where you do not need an entire narration to decide if you want to be a part of a film or not. What is even more rare is to not be able to articulate and put into words what you feel for the film and it’s journey..." she tweeted.

The trailer, which begins with a reference to the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case that had shaken the nation, traces the trauma which Deepika's character Malti goes through after she was a victim of an acid attack.

Towards the end of the trailer, Malti is seen happy after fighting a prolonged court case.

Meghna commented on Twitter, "Malti. Is courage and strength. Hers is a life of resilience. And hope."

This is the first occasion where Deepika, the co-producer of the film, has worked with Meghna who is credited for her works like Raazi and Talvar.

Actor Vikrant Massey will be seen alongside Deepika in Chhapaak which will release on Jan 10, 2020.
