Deepka Padukone appointed MAMI film festival chairperson

Mumbai, Jan 30 (IBNS) :Film star Deepka Padukone has been appointed chairperson of the 21st  Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) film festival replacing Kiran Rao, media reports said. 

Last month, Deepika was named as one of the jury members.

"It's an absolute honour and a huge responsibility. I believe in MAMI's vision &  we are committed towards creating a community that cinema lovers & creators of a film-passionate nation like ours truly deserve," Deepika told Mumbai Mirror.

The MAMI film festival is one of the city's most prestigious film festivals. Spanning over a couple of days, it brings together the best of country and world cinema for movie buffs to cherish. Over the years, MAMI has gained the reputation of hand-picking the choicest of films made across the world; and a highly acclaimed group of artists and film enthusiasts works as part of the body.
