Bollywood mourns music director Wajid Khan's death

Mumbai/IBNS: The entire Indian film industry has mourned the death of music director Wajid Khan of the Sajid-Wajid, who passed away in a Mumbai hospital on Monday.

Wajid died due to complications arising from a kidney infection. He was also infected with Covid-19. 

Mourning the death of the 42-year old music director, acting legend Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "Shocked at the passing of Wajid Khan .. a bright smiling talent passes away .. duas , prayers and in condolence."

Varun Dhawan tweeted, "shocked hearing this news @wajidkhan7 bhai was extremely close to me and my family. He was one of the most positive people to be around. We will miss u Wajid bhai thank u for the music."

Priyanka Chopra Jonas said, "Terrible news. The one thing I will always remember is Wajid bhai's laugh. Always smiling. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and everyone grieving. Rest in peace my friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers."

Priyanka's actress sister Parineeti Chopra said, "Wajid Bhai you were the nicest, nicest nicest man! Always smiling. Always singing. All heart. Every music session with him was memorable. You will truly be missed wajid bhai."

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor tweeted, "An irreplaceable loss for the music industry. Wajid Khan will be missed deeply but he will live on through his music and the lives he touched with it. My heartfelt condolences to the family."

Singer Shreya Ghoshal said, "I can’t believe I am writing this. It feels unreal... Wajid bhai, I close my eyes and only see your smiling face. You always saw positivity in any situation, gave so much warmth, happiness and strength to everyone around you."

Singer Adnan Sami tweeted, "I’m shocked!! I’ve lost a dear brother Wajid! I can’t come to grips with this tragic news... He was such a beautiful soul.. Oh dear Lord, Please have mercy...إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعون May Allah SWT bless him in Jannat-ul-Firdaus...Ameen."

Actress Bhumi Pednekar tweeted, "Extremely sad and heart broken to hear about the demise of #WajidKhan. Wajid bhai you will be missed. My condolences to the family and loved ones."

Life Of Wajid Khan In Brief

Wajid Khan (his brother is Sajid Khan of the musical duo) was the son of Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, a tabla player.

Sajid–Wajid scored music for several Salman Khan movies beginning with 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' in 1998. In 1999, they scored music for Sonu Nigam's album 'Deewaana' and in the same year, they scored for the film Hello Brother and wrote the songs 'Hata Saawan Ki Ghata', 'Chupke Se Koi Aayega' and 'Hello Brother'.

They composed music for several films such as 'Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai' (2002), 'Gunaah' (2002), 'Chori Chori' (2003), 'The Killer' (2006), 'Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar' (2006), 'Jaane Hoga Kya' (2006) among others.

They had also composed music for several films starring Salman Khan, which include 'Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge' (2002), 'Tere Naam' (2003), 'Garv' (2004), 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' (2004), 'Partner' (2007), 'Hello' (2008), 'God Tussi Great Ho' (2008), 'Wanted' (2009), 'Main Aur Mrs Khanna', (2009), 'Veer' (2010), 'Dabangg' (2010), 'No Problem' (2010) and 'Ek Tha Tiger' (2012; "Mashallah" only).
