West Bengal: TMC leader threatens petrol pump staffer to give fuel without helmet
Kolkata, Jul 26 (IBNS): A local leader of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) allegedly threatened a petrol pump staffer on Monday night in West Bengal's Medinipore Town, as the man denied to give him petrol without helmet.
Following the direction of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the 'No Helmet No Petrol' rule has come into effect in West Bengal and maximum petrol pumps have stopped selling fuel to bikers without helmet.
According to reports, TMC leader Saurav Basu went to petrol pump at Battola Chawk area in Medinipore Town to refuel his motorcycle. As Saurav Basu went there without wearing helmet, a staffer of petrol pump denied to give him petrol.
The TMC leader allegedly forced the staffer to refuel his bike and also threatened him to ransack the petrol pump at night, if he is not given fuel.
However, the entire episode was recorded on a mobile camera at the petrol pump. According to the video footage, Saurav Basu told the pump staffer, "Are you showing me rule? We have made the rule. Who are you to show me rule? If it's not legal, then I will be detained, not you. So, what's your problem? If I would be held, then I will handle, I have that power."
"If 50 boys come here at midnight and vandalize the petrol pump, then who will save you? Inform your pump's owner that Saurav Basu said that he would ransack the pump. Nobody has power to prevent it. Don't try to be an arrogant. Give me fuel," he further said.
Meanwhile, no complaint against the party leader has been lodged in local police station so far and the accused TMC leader, Saurav Basu, denied all allegations against him.
